Proper Wood Finishing learned and perfected the science and craft of antique restoration in the demanding dealer market of Northern California. This environment gave us the knowledge and ability to identify, reconstruct, and appropriately repair most wooden furniture items that you may own. This knowledge is critical when working on one-of-a-kind and valuable items that would become worthless if handled incorrectly. Once we have ascertained the age, construction and condition of your item, we will proceed to formulate the correct repair or finishing schedule to return your prize possession back to the appropriate condition. This is with the understanding that we never truly own a piece of history; we are just stewards with the obligation to pass it on to family or future generations. If a piece of furniture is damaged or not usable, it is very likely to be disposed of by its next owner. The purpose of our trade is to make that cherished item retain its original structure, style, and grace so future stewards will long to possess it and care for it as well.
